One of the best ways to eat healthier and lose weight at a faster rate is to eat low carb meals. When you eat foods that are low in carbohydrates, especially simple carbs, you allow your body to burn fat instead of carbohydrates. This aids in faster weight loss and improves your overall digestion and metabolism. Weight loss is one of the most difficult things for a person to achieve since the body typically fights to maintain its weight. However, it is possible to lose weight by following a proper diet and exercise plan. Therefore, since most people have a problem with preparing delicious and healthy low carb meals, we will be looking at a few tips, ideas and recipes to help you eat better.
When it comes to eating low carbohydrate meals, you need to find ways to replace popular foods such as rice, bread, cereals, potatoes, etc. For example, one easy way to immediately replace rice with a low carbohydrate option is to use cauliflower. You can make cauliflower rice by cooking or steaming it and then chopping it finely in a food processor. Of course, make sure not to chop it too finely and that it looks almost like rice. Once you’re done, you can prepare other vegetables that you might put in rice such as carrots, onions, peas and then fry all of these together in a pan and add seasonings to taste. You can then eat your cauliflower rice along with other low carb foods such as chicken and vegetables.
Next, we will look at ways that you can make a substitute for bread. Many people enjoy eating bread for breakfast or to make a quick sandwich for lunch or dinner. However, if you are following a low carb diet plan, then you won’t be able to eat bread. Therefore, you need to find ways to either avoid bread or make a substitute. One of my favorite ways of making low carb bread is to make protein bread. You can easily do this by combining coconut flour, whey protein, sweeteners, egg whites, baking powder, and salt. Of course, there are tons of different recipes, and you can create protein bread by using pumpkin puree, quinoa flakes, almond flour and whatever type of protein powder that you have available. All it takes is a simple Google search or YouTube search, and you will find tons of great protein bread recipes to try.
Also to bread substitutes, you can even make pancakes or waffles without using white flour that are extremely low in carbs. One typical recipe involves whey protein powder, eggs, sugar, cream cheese, almond flour and salt. These waffles and pancakes are extremely tasty and can be eaten with fried eggs, bacon or even sugar-free maple syrup for a low carb breakfast.
Now that we have covered breakfast, there are tons of great low carb meals that you can make for lunch. The simplest and easiest meal that you can prepare involves some meat such as chicken, beef, fish or turkey along with a vegetable side dish. Vegetables can be extremely tasty if cooked right and some of my favorites include kale, broccoli, spinach, green beans, carrots, beets, etc. However, it is important to note that on a low carb diet you should try to avoid overly starchy vegetables such as corn.
When you are on a low carb diet, you might be thinking that dessert is out of the question. Fortunately, this isn’t true, and there are many great high protein desserts that you can buy or prepare. For example, you can easily make a high protein ice cream using greek yogurt and protein powder. Alternatively, you can even make protein brownies by eliminating the white flour and adding in protein powder, extra eggs, cottage cheese, cocoa, baking powder and peanut butter. If you don’t have the time to cook, then you can easily find these high protein treats in any supplement store, or you can simply pick up a protein bar.
In closing, when it comes to low carb meals, all it takes is a little preparation and a lot of commitment. If you want to lose weight or become healthier by eating fewer carbs, then the tips in this article will give you a great head start. So, make sure to stick to your diet and you will surely see the results you’re looking for.
